The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Before I miss the boat blogging about this particular trend - and it's been around for a while now - may I alert you to the current fashionista penchant for animal print, sourced direct from Africa. Following on from the witch doctor-style tribal outfits we had floating around as a result of Louis Vuitton's earlier activities this year, we have delved deeper into the jungle for leopard print and a few zebras for good measure.

If you'd asked me 6 months ago whether I'd be happy to wear leopard print anything, I'd probably snap that I am not past 40 yrs of age just yet and hence not a cougar and to stop being so offensive. Leopard print has always seemed to be the domain of tragical, wannabe-man-eater cougars and I can only ever think of trashtastic 80s film clips with teased hair, monster fringes and terribly high cut leopard-print knickers and matching bra. Ick. For now though, I've changed my tune. There's a lot of great animal print out there, and if done right (i.e. not entire outfits of it, nor paired with acid-wash denim highwaisted jeans), it can be uber effective.

What do you think? Does it make you want to run and hide in a monkey's treehouse until the trend passes? Or are you loving the opportunity to add a bit of trash to your wardrobe?

PS: Wish I could tell you wear the pics are sourced from, but I seriously gathered them yonks ago with the intention of posting sooner. I think quite a few are from LeFashion.
