Ooh La La

Galliano's latest Haute Couture collection for Dior oozes nonchalant 1950s glamour with his nod to silken, seamed stockings, old-school garters and brassieres, milliner's wetdreams (courtesy of Stephen Jones), nipped waists and opera gloves.

With the flouncing, pouting girls in a state of semi-undress, Galliano invites us to observe the Dior creations deconstructed into their elements - delivering a pared back quality to the unflinchingly stylish garments, at once a recognition of the comparative austerity etiquette demands in a global recession, and a statement that style and quality will never suffer no matter the circumstances - even if you can't afford a shirt to go with your lovely Dior skirt.
