Ok so I had always been a bit of a skeptic of online social networking sites (there are after all a never ending number of them including Bebo, Friendster, LinkedIn and Myspace) until of course I get addicted...
Having become very hooked on Facebook I have recently gotten into Twitter. Twitter is a microblogging site that allows users to post 140-word "tweets" about what they are doing. When I first heard about it from my lovely boyfriend (who is the eternal technology fiend) I just thought it really isn't any different to facebook status updates and the thing is you can't share photo albums so where is the fun in that? That is until I discovered there are heaps celebs twittering and letting you into their lives and in a bizarre (and perhaps perverse but lovely) way it's really nice to see their photos and hear what they are up to without it being censored by their PR people or their management...
Celebs that I currently follow on Twitter include:
- MrsKutcher (aka Demi Moore) - she tweets alot. The interaction between her and aplusk (aka Ashton Kutcher) is very sweet and endearing. They post photos such as them at home, being all touristy in front of the Golden Gate bridge in San Fran, getting ready for the Oscars and tell us what books they are reading and what movies they are watching. Rachel, she even told me about wordle (where you can make all those word bubbles that you like and have previously posted about). MrsKutcher herself made her own word bubble out of her various tweets (see pic below).
- JohnCMayer (aka John Mayer) tweets about all sorts of random things including admitting that he voted for himself in People Magazine's "Is John Mayer a Keeper? " online poll. He said he clicked on "Love Him" but "Lose Him" is winning at 63%.
- MichaelUrie (aka Michael Urie and is Mark from Ugly Betty) who is currently on a campaign to get Becki Newton (aka Amanda from Ugly Betty) on twitter. His latest tweets include "Twitter wants Becki RT@rayshull: just channel Harvey Milk: grab a mega phone and yell at her "I'm Michael Urie, and I want to recruit you!" and "Becki Newton does not Tweet... yet." He posts a lot of photos from the set of Ugly Betty too.
I think it's pretty cool that they are getting out there and sharing with their fans so sign up and tweet away!
