Play Me I'm Yours

On 30 January, UK artist Luke Jerram installed 30 pianos in public places around Sydney (including a tattoo parlour!) with the aim of having people band together (haha) and appreciate talent and music in a public forum. Luke wanted people to get talking to one another, for people to connect again. Sydney-siders are also invited to paint and decorate the pianos as they like - the pianos belong to Sydney now. What an amazing idea! Old couples have been seen playing their wedding waltz to each other, giggling over the wrong notes and getting that wistful look only the elder can master. Youngsters gather around for some Piano Idol good times.

This isn't the first time Luke has experimented with music as public art - two years ago, he sent off hot air balloons over the city with the balloons blasting out music. Although he's not a musician himself, he is an artist who wants his art to reach and touch as many people as possible.
