A Little Less Conversation

David Jones held its much anticipated Spring/Summer fashion launch yesterday in Sydney - much anticipated not only for their impressive stable of brands, but also given the controversy that has recently swirled (spectacularly stirred vigorously yesterday with deft timing) following the voluntary departure of ex-CEO Mark McInnes following a sexual harassment claim lodged by a 25 year old employee which brings certain management practices of stalwart David Jones into disrepute. The grim chaser to this particular tonic were some poorly thought-out proclamations by fashion darling Alannah Hill. It resulted in this apology:

I honestly don't know what she was thinking - first, McInnes has a heavily pregnant girlfriend at home, and second, I hate to be a pedant but there isn't much glory in poking a stick at someone who has been sexually harassed in the workplace. Was it insecurity or bitchiness behind the comment (with its double-barreled consequences given the girlfriend situation), or was it truly "just a joke"? I wonder.

It was a shame that brand ambassador Miranda Kerr wasn't available, however DJs more than made up for her absence with model heavyweights Samantha Harris, Nicole Trunfio, Abby Lee Kershaw and Catherine McNeil.
