They really are hideously non-sexy. I saw Wolfman the other night (it being rainy weather, it being the only remotely scary movie at the cinema right now). Werewolves will never match vampires in the sexy stakes. I think it's because vampires reflect all that is great about humankind (if you consider vampires removed from the Buffy The Vampire Slayer context that is) - sexy, eternal youth, dress well, love to kiss necks. Whereas werewolves represent the ick factor - uncontrollable lust, hairiness, violence, sweat, mess-makers.
I must admit that I was always confused by the Buffy representation of vampires - they were all rather primal the ones she knocked off each episode, yet Spike and Angel still managed to have humanity and sexiness - until they transformed to vampire state whereupon they became ugly. What was going on there?
